Tree Fredericksburg invites you to the second Trees Virginia Municipal Tree Care Workshop series held in partnership with Trees Virginia, Tree Fredericksburg and the City of Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events.
This sessions overview consist of urban forestry ecosystems, basic tree physiology, tree safety, trees and utilities, tree ordinances, and tree partnerships. Instructor(s) for this session: Cindy Musick, Director Vegetation Management, Rappahannock Electric Co-op.
This free workshop has limited seats available, which aims to inform employees about managing urban trees, helping jurisdictions save resources. The classes are designed to give attendees tools for better outcomes and are open to eligible employees. In addition, this workshop is open to all municipal, parks, and school employees in the five county region around Fredericksburg.
The course is based on the Trees Virginia (Virginia’s Urban Forest Council) ten-unit Tree Steward Class Tree-Steward-Training-Manual.pdf (treesvirginia.org). This four class workshop does not certify the attendees as Tree Stewards but is offered to expand the basic knowledge about the care of and the importance of trees in our communities. The classes will address tree care, pruning, problems, diseases, basic physiology of trees, the benefits of trees and how trees impact our community. CEU’s are available from MAC-ISA for each unit of this course. All four classes must be attended in order to receive CEU’s. A MAC-ISA certification number is required for CEU’s. There is no charge for the CEU’s but you must be a member of MAC-ISA in order to apply for CEU’s. For further info on CEU’s please go to MAC-ISA | Mid-Atlantic Chapter, International Society of Arboriculture.
