The Soil and Water Conservation District offers VACS and VCAP within our community.

VCAP – The Virginia Conservation Assistance Program

This urban cost-share program provides:

  • Cost-share and financial Incentives
  • Technical Assistance with project selection and design
  • Informational resources

**Eligible to property owners installing approved Best Management Practices in Virginia’s participating Soil and Water Conservation Districts.**

VACS – Virginia Agricultural Cost Share Program

Cost-share funding is available to help agricultural producers and landowners protect soil and water resources with practices including:

  • Livestock Exclusion Fencing
  • Rotational Grazing
  • Nutrient Management
  • Cover Crops
  • Pasture Management
  • Animal Waste Management
  • Streambank Erosion
  • Riparian Buffer Planting
  • Afforestation
  • And more

Riparian Forests for Landowners Program (RFFL)

The DOF Riparian Forests for Landowners (RFFL) program provides flexible, no-cost riparian forest buffer installation and one year of maintenance to landowners. The program is being implemented by DOF and partner organizations in a unique watershed-based partnership. Funding is provided by the Inflation Reduction Act through the USDA Forest Service and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Water Quality Improvement Fund Act. This program is open to private property owners including property/homeowner’s associations or civic leagues in rural, urban or suburban areas.
