Cleanup Study Community Engagement Meeting

April 12 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host the first Community Engagement meeting for the Cedar Run, Mine Run, Mountain Run, and the Lower Rapidan River Basin Watershed Cleanup Plan.

The meeting is open to everyone, and anyone can take part. Participants will help create a cleanup plan, also called an Implementation Plan (IP), for fixing bacteria issues in the Cedar Run, Mine Run, Mountain Run, and the Lower Rapidan River Basin. These areas in Orange County, Culpeper County, and Spotsylvania County are on Virginia’s list of impaired waters due to E. coli contamination, not meeting Virginia’s water quality rules. Their will be discussions about how to put the plan into action, how much it might cost, how to reach out to people, drafting reports, and ways to get funding.

Location:

George Washington Carver Agricultural Research Center   9432 N James Madison Hwy, Rapidan, VA 22733 – Classroom #1.

In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on April 16th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
